SOS mix
This one's for the old school vegans...here's how I make this classic vegan meat alt at home!

This can also be made GF with switching in GF versions of each component ingredient.

Ingredients:

30g nutritional yeast flakes

30g rolled oats

30g plain flour

1 tsp garlic powder & onion powder

1 tsp dried sage

1 tsp smoked paprika

2 tsp beetroot powder (for colour when hydrated)

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

2 stock cubes (I used Oxo chicken)

250g dried soya mince/TVP

200g stuffing mix (dried - I use sage & onion) Otherwise use breadcrumbs + herbs.

Optional:

1 tsp mushroom powder (I use chaga)

30g vegan suet

Somewhat controversially, I prefer mixing with cold water (many others prefer boiling water!) when ready to use.

Per 100g of SOS mix (6 sausages) use about 130ml water. Adjust as you need to get a workable consistency.

You should get 2 big jars about 550g SOS mix.
